Naples, 10 June (AKI) - A man who played the role of a boss in the southern Italian city of Naples in the 2008 movie ''Gomorra'' has himself been sentenced to almost 14 years in prison for crimes including extortion.

The movie directed by Matteo Garrone was based on a book of the same same recounting stories of the powerful Camorra crime syndicate from Naples. The book's author Roberto Saviano receives state protection in the form of body guards because of threats on his life.

Police say Giovanni Venosa is affiliated with the Camorra's Casalesi crime family from the outskirts of Naples. He was sentenced to 13 years and 10 months.

In the movie he used Casalesi dialect to warn a pair of trouble-making want-to-be mobsters ''Ve taglie 'a chep,'' or "I'll decapitate you."
