Italy: Pensioner knifes son to death during violent row

Senigallia, 3 Feb. (AKI) - A 69-year-old man stabbed his 49-year-old son to death on Monday as the pair quarrelled violently in the eastern Italian coastal town of Senigallia.

The pensioner, named as Roberto Moroni stabbed his son Luca in the throat during a fight that broke out at the council flat they shared when he asked him for money to feed a drug habit.

Luca Moroni had reportedly smashed a chair against his father's back after he refused to give him the money, causing the widower to pull out a knife and slash his son across the thoat in a fury.

The father and son frequently rowed, and police had been called to the flast last November after Luca threatened Roberto with a knife after he refused to give him money.
